Eat-In at Bristol’s Food Connections Festival
Bank Holiday Monday saw me covering a rather different sort of event to my more usual weddings and birthday celebrations. I had been asked to document the Sustainable Food Trust’s gathering for an Eat-In to promote Bristol’s food movers, growers and chefs.
College Green was looking stunning with the tulips still flowering and the cathedral as a backdrop to the marquees, all part of Bristol Food Connections’s week-long festival.
Trestle tables, crockery, colourful bunting and home-grown music were the order of the day, as well as a feast of contributions from local, sustainable, food producers. Attendees provided their own food to share with the wealth of dishes freshly prepared by the hard-working Sustainable Food Trust team.
Contributors included Keens Cheddar and Stream Farm lamb as well as New Dawn Traders and the Gleaning Network, all part of the growing network of producers and groups on board with the importance of sustainable farming for the long-term future of our planet.
